The Shrug. It Ends.October 27: I finished this a week ago now, just didn't take pictures. I even wore it to work! And damn if it wasn't all cute with a long black skirt and slim t-shirt... Sadly, I did not take photos that day. I feel motivated to take pictures NOW--when I have no makeup on and a dirty pair of jeans... This sweater is so cozy and soft. I just want to curl up in it and read all day. Gave me a definite boost in our freezing-ass office. The sleeves are still really long even after re-knitting to pattern measurements. As Amy pointed out though, that is a handy feature in a freezing-ass office. We both have our handknit fingerless gloves sitting right by our computers at all times, ready to go...have I mentioned the fact that our office is ass freezingly cold? Hmmm, little shiny in that one--make-up! Powder! I knit a slouchy beret last weekend too. The Le'Slouch from knit and tonic. So cute on her. On me, it's so slouchy, it looks like part of a Renn Faire costume. Just a big ol' head cover, nothing cool about it. Gonna rip that sucker out and go for less slouch. Why can't I knit anything right these days???
Cheating for NicoleOctober 25: I love 'em too, honey...they got that singing voice part wrong though. I am more like a dog, dying on the side of the highway. That is how I sound singing.
You are Marianne Dashwood of Sense & Sensibility! You are impulsive, romantic, impatient, and perhaps a little too vocal in your honesty. You enjoy romantic poetry and novels, and play the pianoforte beautifully. To boot, your singing voice is captivating. You feel deeply, and love passionately.
That Book MemeOctober 19: Nicole tagged me for this: Page 161 of the book I'm currently reading--the fifth sentence on the page. " 'Yes,' Corbin grumbled." Yep. That's the fifth sentence on page 161 of "Suite Francaise". The sixth sentence is awesome though: "He and his wife had had a painful row: in the chaos of the hurried departure, or perhaps out of malice, the chambermaid had put a small framed picture belonging to Monsieur Corbin in Madame Corbin's bag; it contained a photograph of Arlette, stark naked." I tag Alison, Cynthia and whoever else is reading. Stick it in the comments, Amy!
Reading NowOctober 3: I found a stack of abandoned books on the sidewalk (god I love this town) and I've been slowly working my way through them and then putting them up on paperbackswap.com. I am loving Louise Rennison's "Confessions of Georgia Nicolson" series. Written for 13 year girls (or adults who wish being 13 had been that hilariously cool for them) they are just too damn funny. And I quote: "I don't mean I want to be like an old-fashioned woman--you know, all lacy and the man is all tight-lipped and never says anything even if he has got a brain tumor. I want my boyfriend (provided, God willing, I am not a lesbian) to be emotional...but only about me. I want him to be like Darcy in 'Pride and Prejudice' (although having said that, I've seen him in other things like 'Fever Pitch' and he's not so sexy out of frilly shirts and tights). Anyway, I'll never have a boyfriend because I am too ugly." And another fav quote of mine: "...He looked so cool. Oh bloody sacre bleu. Even though I hate him and he is a pompous pratboy, I think I may love him." I mean really. That was 13. And 14, 15, 16 and probably most of 17 and 18. The books take all of roughly two hours to read and are total fluff, and I can't stop reading them. My only problem is that books 5 - 8 were not on the sidewalk and nor are they on paperbackswap. Crap. I might actually have to break down and buy them.
