Catching upNovember 24: I've been remiss I know...I'm a bad person. First we were in New Hampshire for the weekend and then we had a family crisis. It's been a crazy two weeks. It's almost midnight now on Thanksgiving Eve and I've planned too much as usual. While the pumpkin pies bake I thought I'd tell you about Craft Heaven. In New Hampshire our brilliant friend, Laura, took me to Center Harbor, NH. Home of Patternworks and Keepsake Quilting AND Keepsake Needlearts. It was amazing. All this craftiness in one place. I knit, I stitch and I have been known to quilt from time to time...(thou shalt not speak of my fabric stash). Check it out--they're all together in one long, white, gleaming building of craftiness. Be. Still. My. Heart.
And because most of my internet friends are knitters...I present to you: Patternworks. Sigh...
Should I mention the stop at Webs on the drive up? If I was in any fit state to be operating a camera I would take photos of my haul. Mainly so I can relive the crafty joy. But the pumpkin pies are calling and I'm sooo damn sleepy. Why the hell did I think it would be FUN to cook Thanksgiving dinner? Somebody stop me if I ever do this again. Just fucking stop me.
My sister kicks BUTT!November 11: This past Sunday, November 7th, my sister ran the New York City Marathon for the first time. In fact, it was her first marathon ever. She trained hard, but not without difficulty. She missed a week when she fell ill then another week when she broke her toe. Her sneakers were so old they had holes before the race even began. She still managed to run the damn thing in 3 hours 21 minutes and 33 seconds. She was the 181st woman to cross the finish line (the results still aren't *final* that number has gone up and down the past few days, but not her time) and 54th in her age group. I am just a wee bit proud. When we got back to the apartment my brother and his wife had come over with their new baby. So wrapped in her foil blanket with her finisher's medal around her neck, Mary met her nephew, Colin, for the first time.
We figure the child will have an irrational fear of aluminum foil. We took tons of photos the night before the race and of course, the day of. Check out the ice packs on her hips! Click here!
Sex BombNovember 4: I am a Sex Bomb! After finding out that my husband is an Evil Genius through the 20 Questions quiz--I just had to go take the 20 Questions to a Better Relationship quiz. And apparently I am sexy sex sex sex--go me. I also lie effortlessly... I feel so much better about this whole election thing now. You are a XSYG--Expressive Sentimental Physical Giver. This makes you a Sex Bomb. You are sexy sex sex sex! The sexness! You are the sexiest, hottest and most charismatic of all types. You are a captivating speaker and a great dinner date -- relaxed, self-effacing, charming and generous. Your type probably has origins in something sad -- trying to keep the peace in a tough family situation, or an early heartbreak -- and you'll probably want to address and resolve that at some point, but in your relationships that heartache is pure gold! You lie effortlessly -- not necessarily a bad thing. You can have problems with fidelity. You need frequent praise and validation, and in seeking it you can make decisions that aren't consistent with your general good judgment. In other words, don't cheat on your significant other just because someone is paying attention to you. You strongly dislike conflict, and will avoid it. Like an XPYG, you give so much of yourself to your partner that you feel dismissed and unappreciated if you don't get the same in return. But you internalize your feelings more and have a hard time getting over them. You don't *want* to cheat -- you just keep finding yourself in vulnerable situations. But you'll stay with your partner in the long run from guilt and a desire to please. Your sex life will always be hot. You are one of the rare people who can keep the fires of passion going forever -- if you find a good match. Find another XSYG and you will never need (or want) anyone else again.
Of the 147571 people who have taken this quiz, 8.2 % are this type.
Hell still frozen.November 3: At the risk of permanently offending my family: Okay--who are the 20%ish of you who were voting for "morals" yesterday (NBC news late last night)? That just smacks of voting for a religious leader and if you don't know what happens every time a country is lead by a religious zealot...you need to read more history. I'm not saying Bush is a religious zealot--he's changed religions too often for that. I'm saying that you need to base your politics on something other than "morals" Which moral are you picking anyway? Take a look at our past great leaders--there are some serious moral issues in that bunch. Again--I think you all need to read more history. Quite frankly, America, I think you've lost your collective minds. And on that note--I'm going to shut up, because I'm tempted to rant. And you do not want to see that--OH NO, YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE THAT. To distract myself I took a quiz: 20 Questions to a Better Personality You are a WECL--Wacky Emotional Constructive Leader. This makes you a People`s Advocate. You are passionate about your causes, with a good heart and good endeavors. Your personal fire is contagious, and others wish they could be as dedicated to their beliefs as you are. Your dedication may cause you to miss the boat on life's more slight and trivial activities. You will feel no loss when skipping some inane mixer, but it can be frustrating to others to whom such things are important. While you find it difficult to see other points of view, it may be useful to act as if you do, and play along once in a while. In any event, you have buckets of charisma and a natural skill for making people open up. Your greatest asset is an ability to make progress while keeping the peace. Of the 51380 people who have taken this quiz since tracking began (8/17/2004), 6 % are this type. I don't know how accurate that is, but yes, I do hate inane mixers. So there you go.
