Finishes

November 21: I finished the lavender pillow from the Paris '02 trip!

That took me long enough. Stitching on a finished pillow form is a pain in the butt, let me tell you. Five zillion shades of purple on a finished pillow form is a REAL pain in the butt. I love it though! Yippee!

The next finish is the painting in the bathroom. Benjamin Moore Burnt Peanut Red. Amy wonders if it will look like a bordello. No, dear, I think the floral shower curtain kind of nixes the bordello look. I could be wrong. If so--I'm placing blame squarely on my sister. She chose the color. I happen to love it--good choice Mary!!! I love, love, love it! I love my new medicine cabinet and light fixture too. Now if I could just get rid of the plastic tile and icky vanity...baby steps...baby steps...

Let us not forget the mother of all finishes--the kitchen. Don't get your hopes up, it ain't done yet, but we're getting there! The appliances were installed today and it is really starting to look fantastic. Again--I love, love, love it! (the only fly in the ointment is that I somehow--very stupidly--ordered the wrong range. Worse, we bought the appliances from "some guy in Brooklyn" who really gave us a FANTASTIC deal, everything is perfect, fabulous service, etc. But "some guy in Brooklyn" does not make the return process easy. So we have one range installed in the kitchen--the one we wanted, and there's another range sitting in the dining room. Anyone want a snazzy GE range? Oy.) I'm withholding pictures until the counters are in. I feel like I'm bugging people to death with this kitchen business. I bet my friends and family can't wait for this damn kitchen to be finished!

We're leaving for Dave's mom's tomorrow. Oh, the holidays are here. Crap.

Kitchen Progress

November 12: Finally, I have put together a photo album on the kitchen renovation. It's rather hellish, this experience. A small apartment is no place to live while things are being ripped out, tiled, painted, etc., etc... My solution for coping is to just not be here! Rehearsals for the new Dysfunctional show have kept me out late. So has staying out late drinking with assorted friends to be honest. It's just too messy at home. I'd rather be drunk.

The progress thus far is shown here in an Image Station album hopefully, they won't make you sign in to view.

I'm off to stitch (and yes, bitch) at Theresa's now. It's a lovely, lazy Saturday and I don't want to spend it in a construction zone...

Marathon Day 2005

November 6: She ran it again, folks! Injured hamstring and all she was the 798th woman to cross the finish line. 3:45:50 Not what she was going for, but DAMN girl, under four hours and limping half of the last six miles? I'm so proud of you. When you set your mind to something, you don't stop and that's what matters any day of the year. Here's to crossing the finish line come hell or high water. You're an inspiration.
