FRANCE!

June 23: Oh how I love France and all things French. Oh how I adore a good internet quiz! Today I registered for my fifth course at the French Institute. I am moving up to the Intermidiate levels. Will the subjonctif no longer be mystery to me? Will I ever get to return to France and show off my newfound knowledge? Stay tuned!

You're France!
Most people think you're snobby, but it's really just that you're better than everyone else. At least you're more loyal to the real language, the fine arts, and the fine wines than anyone else. You aren't worth beans in a fight, unless you're really short, but you're so good at other things that it usually doesn't matter. Some of your finest works were intended to be short-term projects.

What the hell?

June 18: The thespark.com bitch test has disappeared. I assume because thespark.com has been bought by Barnes and Noble and the mighty B&N cannot be associated with such shenanigans. BUT there is light at the end of the tunnel! While searching for the bitch test I discovered the quizilla "What Swear Word Are You?" test. And Voila! Really, after yesterday, is anyone surprised?

bitch
your bitch.

What swear word are you?

Hoover!

June 16: So this time around I find myself in some really wacky show about J. Edgar Hoover. What was I thinking? At various points in the show I am Hoover's secretary, his psychiatrist, a Japanese war plane bombing Pearl Harbor, Jackie Kennedy, a gay male performing an act of "love" on Hoover, and a horse. I don't think my mother should see this show. If the gay sex thing didn't throw her over the edge the horse would. (Four years/$100,000 to Tisch for this?!?!) At times I'm a little confused myself, Mom.

To be honest, I do like the show. I'm not so wild about being a headlight (did I mention the car scenes?), but I think that's what all those special movement classes in college were for. It's no worse than what those weird experimental theater kids were always doing! Also the play has political relevance--far more so than that recent piece of crap "Embedded" did. Just because he's Tim Robbins, he gets mega-bucks and a show at the Public--we're no one so we get buried Off-Off Broadway. There is a spooky similarity to what's going on in our government today--the writing of the play lets the audience see that for themselves without bashing them over the head the way "Embedded" did. And what's weirder is that "Hoover" was written years ago--before this whole mess we're currently in. Nothing is ever new under the sun, my friends.

Come see "Hoover" and see me be a depression era bum! All the info is on the Horse Trade Theater Group Website. See you there!

And We're Done...

June 2: I know the 5 Hour Baby Sweater is supposed to have buttons, but when you knit it up in Mission Falls 1824 Cotton that is just not going to happen. My God that stuff is brutal--I think (no, I KNOW) that is why this sweater was such a pain to make. It's such pretty yarn, but it's killer on the hands.

I made a small adjustment with this pattern--I didn't do the decorative rows at the bottom. The thought of all those knit 2 together's made me want to cry.

So, Emily Dana, here is your new sweater. To encourage you to be a girly-girl it has a bow (tacked on very securely, Mom) instead of buttons. It's summer anyway, you won't need to be that warm. Right? Right?!
